Homemade Orange Candy

Ingredients
Main Ingredients:
1 cup orange juice, divided
2 tablespoons orange zest
1 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons honey (optional, for extra shine and softness)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Extra sugar for coating (optional)

Instructions
Prepare the Mixture:
In a saucepan, combine ½ cup of the orange juice, sugar, orange zest, and lemon juice. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely.

Mix the Thickener:
In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining ½ cup orange juice with the cornstarch until smooth and lump-free.

Cook Until Thickened:
Pour the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens into a smooth, gel-like consistency (about 5–7 minutes).

Add Honey (Optional):
Stir in the honey for added shine and softness.

Set the Candy:
Pour the thick mixture into a lightly greased or parchment-lined small dish. Smooth the top with a spatula.

Chill:
Let it cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2–3 hours, or until firm.

Cut & Coat:
Once set, remove from the dish and cut into small squares. Roll each piece in granulated sugar if desired.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
