Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 fresh pineapple, peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch chunks
- 1 red bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 green bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
- Wooden or metal skewers
- Sesame seeds (optional garnish)
- Sliced green onions (optional garnish)
- Lime wedges (optional garnish)
Directions:
- Marinate the beef:
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar (or honey), rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper. Toss in the beef cubes, making sure they’re thoroughly coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for a deeper flavor punch. - Prepare the skewers:
If you’re using wooden skewers, give them a soak in water for about 30 minutes to prevent burning. Then, thread the marinated beef, pineapple chunks, and bell pepper pieces onto the skewers, mixing it up for a colorful presentation. - Grill the skewers:
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill those delightful skewers for 2–3 minutes on each side until the beef reaches your desired doneness and the pineapple gets that lovely caramelization. Once done, remove them from the grill and let them rest for about 2 minutes. - Serve:
Arrange the skewers on a platter for a beautiful display. Finish it off with a sprinkle of sesame seeds, a scattering of sliced green onions, and a few lime wedges for that zesty kick. Enjoy every mouthful!
