Ingredients:
3–4 cups cooked ham, sliced or diced
2–3 cups Swiss cheese, shredded or sliced
1½ cups milk or heavy cream
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional, for sandwich flavor)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers (optional, for topping)
Preparation Method:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a casserole dish.
Spread a layer of ham evenly across the bottom of the dish.
Add a generous layer of Swiss cheese over the ham. Repeat the layers until all the ham and cheese are used.
In a bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper.
Pour the mixture evenly over the ham and cheese layers, making sure everything is well coated.
If using, sprinkle breadcrumbs or crushed crackers on top for a crispy finish.
Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and golden on top.
Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Serve warm and enjoy this rich, cheesy, sandwich-inspired casserole that feels like comfort food at its best
