Easy & Delicious Butter Sugar Bars

These rich, soft, and buttery bars are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. They’re perfect for picnics, potlucks, bake sales, or anytime you need a simple dessert that everyone keeps coming back for. Best of all, they’re easy to make with basic pantry ingredients.

Ingredients (For the Bars)
1½ cups butter, softened
3 cups granulated sugar
1½ teaspoons salt
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
5 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
(Optional topping: powdered sugar, glaze, or frosting)

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a large baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.

Cream the butter and sugar in a large bowl using a mixer until light, fluffy, and smooth.
Add eggs and vanilla, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking powder.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan. Use a spatula to smooth the top.

Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Cool completely before cutting into bars.
(Optional) Dust with powdered sugar or spread with your favorite frosting for extra sweetness.

Serving Tip
Cut into squares or rectangles and serve as-is, or dress them up with frosting for special occasions. These bars stay soft, transport well, and taste even better the next day—no wonder everyone asks for the recipe!
