Mama’s Cola-Smothered Pork Chops (Casserole Style)

Description:
This old-fashioned Mama’s recipe is pure comfort food at its finest. Tender pork chops are slowly baked in a rich, savory-sweet cola sauce that caramelizes as it cooks, creating meat so juicy it practically falls apart. The cola works magic, tenderizing the pork while blending perfectly with onions and seasonings for a deeply satisfying, home-style casserole that tastes like love in every bite.

Ingredients:
4–6 bone-in pork chops
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1½ cups cola soda (regular, not diet)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil or butter
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)

Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Season pork chops with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

Brown the pork chops on both sides for 2–3 minutes per side until lightly golden.

Arrange sliced onions in the bottom of a greased casserole dish. Place pork chops on top.

Pour cola evenly over the pork chops. Add Worcestershire sauce if using.

Cover tightly with foil and bake for 45–55 minutes, until pork is fork-tender.

Remove foil and bake an additional 10–15 minutes to slightly thicken the sauce.
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Serving Suggestions:
Serve these cola-smothered pork chops over mashed potatoes, rice, or buttery egg noodles.

Spoon the rich sauce and onions generously on top for maximum flavor.
