These 3-Layer Key Lime Pie Bars are a refreshing, creamy dessert with the perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors. They start with a buttery graham cracker crust, followed by a smooth and zesty key lime filling, and are finished with a light, fluffy whipped cream topping. Chilled to perfection, these bars are ideal for summer gatherings, holidays, or anytime you crave a bright citrus treat.
Instructions (Method of Preparation):
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
In a bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar until well combined.
Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
Bake for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
In another bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, key lime juice, lime zest, and egg yolks until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
Pour the filling evenly over the warm crust.
Return the pan to the oven and bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the filling is set but still slightly soft in the center.
Remove from the oven and allow it to cool completely at room temperature.
Once fully cooled, spread the whipped cream (or Cool Whip) evenly over the top.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing.
Garnish with lime slices or extra lime zest before serving.
Cut into bars and enjoy chilled.
