Cast Iron Surf & Turf Bowl with Garlic Mash & Cajun Shrimp Sauté


This sizzling cast iron combo is pure Southern soul — tender steak slices, juicy Cajun shrimp with peppers and onions, all cozied up next to creamy garlic mashed potatoes. It’s a skillet full of comfort and flavor!

𝐈𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:

For the Steak:

8 oz sirloin or ribeye, seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder

1 tbsp butter or oil for searing

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

For the Cajun Shrimp Sauté:

½ lb shrimp, peeled & deveined

½ green bell pepper, sliced

½ red bell pepper, sliced

1 small onion, sliced

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp Cajun seasoning

2 cloves garlic, minced

Garlic Mashed Potatoes:

1 lb Yukon gold or russet potatoes, peeled & cubed

2 tbsp butter

¼ cup milk or cream

2 cloves garlic, roasted or minced

Salt & pepper to taste

𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬:

Mashed Potatoes: Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender. Drain and mash with butter, milk, garlic, salt, and pepper until creamy.

Steak: Sear steak in hot butter/oil skillet over medium-high heat, 3–4 mins per side (or to your doneness). Rest and slice.

Shrimp Sauté: In the same skillet, heat oil. Add onion, peppers, and garlic — sauté for 3–4 mins. Add shrimp and Cajun seasoning. Cook until shrimp turn pink and slightly charred.

Assemble: Pile mashed potatoes into the skillet, top with steak slices and shrimp sauté. Sprinkle with parsley and serve hot!
