Fried Catfish Sandwiches


Crispy fried catfish fillets served on soft buns with fresh toppings and sauce. Perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients:

For the Catfish:

4 catfish fillets

1 cup cornmeal

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and black pepper, to taste

1 cup buttermilk (or milk)

Oil for frying

For the Sandwiches:

4 sandwich buns or brioche buns

Lettuce leaves

Tomato slices

Pickles (optional)

Optional Sauce:

Tartar sauce or spicy mayo

Directions:

1️⃣ Prepare the Fish:

Season catfish fillets with salt and pepper.

Soak in buttermilk for 10–15 minutes.

2️⃣ Coat the Catfish:

In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Dredge fillets in the cornmeal mixture, pressing to coat well.

3️⃣ Fry:

Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

Fry catfish 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

Drain on paper towels.

4️⃣ Assemble the Sandwiches:

Toast buns lightly if desired.

Place fried catfish on buns and top with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and sauce.

5️⃣ Serve:

Serve hot with fries or coleslaw.
