Potato Rolls with Chicken

Potato Rolls with Chicken are a comforting and delicious dish made with soft mashed potatoes wrapped around a flavorful chicken filling, then baked or fried until golden. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, these rolls are perfect as a main dish, appetizer, or party snack. They’re filling, budget-friendly, and loved by both kids and adults.

Ingredients
For the Potato Dough:
3 large potatoes, peeled and boiled
1 egg
2 tablespoons butter
½ cup all-purpose flour (more if needed)
Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the Chicken Filling:
1½ cups cooked chicken breast, finely chopped or shredded
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon salt
Optional: chopped parsley or cheese
For Coating (optional):
1 egg, beaten
Breadcrumbs

Preparation Method

Prepare the potatoes:
Mash the boiled potatoes while still warm. Add butter, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well, then gradually add flour until you get a soft, non-sticky dough. Set aside.

Make the chicken filling:
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté the onion until soft, then add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add the chicken, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well and cook for 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.

Shape the rolls:
Take a portion of potato dough and flatten it in your hand. Place some chicken filling in the center, then carefully roll and seal it into a log or cylinder shape.

Coat the rolls (optional):
Dip each roll into beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs for extra crispiness.

Cook the rolls:
Frying: Fry in hot oil until golden brown on all sides.
Baking: Place on a greased baking tray and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20–25 minutes, turning once.
Serve:
Serve hot with ketchup, garlic sauce, or a fresh salad.

Tip: You can add cheese inside for a gooey center or spices like cumin or chili for extra flavor.
