
A restaurant-style surf & turf right at home — juicy steak paired with buttery, garlicky shrimp. Perfect for date night or a weekend treat!
Ingredients
For the Steak:
• 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 250–300 g each)
• Salt & freshly cracked black pepper
• 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
• 2 cloves garlic, smashed
• Fresh thyme or rosemary sprigs (optional)
For the Garlic Shrimp:
• 300 g large shrimp (peeled & deveined)
• 3 tbsp butter
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• Juice of ½ lemon
• 1 tbsp chopped parsley
• Salt & pepper to taste
• Pinch of chili flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Steak:
• Bring steaks to room temperature for 20–30 minutes.
• Season generously with salt and pepper.
• Heat olive oil or butter in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
• Add steaks and sear 3–4 minutes per side (for medium-rare), basting with melted butter, garlic, and herbs.
• Let rest 5 minutes before slicing. - Cook the Garlic Shrimp:
• In the same pan, melt butter and add minced garlic.
• Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
• Add shrimp, season with salt, pepper, and chili flakes.
• Cook 1–2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
• Finish with lemon juice and parsley. - Combine & Serve:
• Plate steak slices alongside the shrimp.
• Drizzle any pan sauce on top for extra flavor.
• Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, or garlic bread. Perfect Pairing:
• Red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon or Malbec) for a bold kick
• Or a crisp white (Chardonnay) to complement the shrimp
