1 (6 oz) box black cherry Jello
1 cup boiling water
1 can dark sweet cherries, drained (reserve ½ cup juice)
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup crushed pineapple, drained
1 cup cola (like Coca-Cola or Pepsi)
1 cup whipped topping (Cool Whip), optional for garnish
Fresh cherries, optional for topping
Instructions:
- Dissolve the Jello
In a large bowl, pour in the black cherry Jello. Add 1 cup boiling water and stir until completely dissolved. - Add cherry juice + cola
Mix in ½ cup reserved cherry juice and 1 cup cola. Stir well. - Beat the cream cheese
In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
Slowly add a small portion of the warm Jello mixture and whisk until creamy (this prevents lumps). - Combine everything
Pour the cream cheese mixture back into the main bowl with the Jello. Stir until smooth.
Add the cherries and crushed pineapple. - Chill and set
