Ingredients
For the dough:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp dry yeast
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp butter (softened)
1 egg
1 cup warm milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
For frying:
Oil for deep frying
For coating:
Sugar (optional)
For the filling:
Nutella or melted chocolate
Vanilla pastry cream (optional)
Preparation Steps
- Activate yeast
In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy. - Prepare the dough
Add egg, butter, vanilla, and salt. Gradually add flour and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. - First rise
Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size. - Shape the donuts
Roll the dough to about 1.5 cm thickness. Cut into squares or circles using a cutter.
Cover and let rest for 20 minutes. - Fry
Heat oil over medium-low heat. Fry donuts gently on both sides until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels. - Coat
Roll donuts in sugar while still warm (optional). - Fill
Using a piping bag, fill donuts with Nutella, chocolate, or vanilla cream until full and soft.
