Ingredients

For the Coconut Filling

3 cups shredded unsweetened coconut

1 cup sweetened condensed milk

¼ cup melted butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon salt

For the Chocolate Coating

300 g (about 2 cups) milk chocolate or dark chocolate, chopped

1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional — helps with smooth coating)

How to Make Chocolate Coconut Bars

  1. Make the Coconut Mixture
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine shredded coconut, sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, vanilla, and salt.
  3. Mix well until a thick, sticky dough forms.
  4. Shape the Bars
  5. Line a tray with parchment paper.
  6. Scoop portions of the coconut mixture and shape them into rectangular bars using your hands.
  7. Place the bars on the tray and freeze for 20–30 minutes — this helps them stay firm while coating.
  8. Melt the Chocolate
  9. In a heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate (and coconut oil if using) using one of these methods:

Microwave: 20–30 second bursts, stirring each time.

Double boiler: Place the bowl over simmering water and stir until smooth.

  1. Dip in Chocolate
  2. Remove the bars from the freezer.
  3. Dip each coconut bar into the melted chocolate using a fork and coat fully.
  4. Place them back on the tray and refrigerate for 20–30 minutes until chocolate is set. Serving Tips

Serve chilled for the best texture.

Drizzle with white chocolate for decoration if desired.

Sprinkle sea salt or shredded coconut before the chocolate sets for added flavor.
