Ingredients
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 cup (250g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1½ cups (300g) sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup (240g) sour cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¾ cup (130g) chocolate chips or chunks
- 1 tbsp flour (for tossing the chocolate chips)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F).
Grease and line an 8-inch round cake pan or loaf pan with parchment paper.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In another large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
Add the dry ingredients in two additions, alternating with sour cream, and mix just until smooth.
Toss chocolate chips in 1 tablespoon of flour to prevent sinking, then gently fold them into the batter.
Pour batter into the prepared pan, smooth the top, and tap lightly to remove air bubbles.
Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a rack to cool completely.
