Ingredients
Pastry & Filling
2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
1 cup walnuts, chopped
⅓ cup brown sugar
3 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
Preheat the Oven:
Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Make the Filling:
In a bowl, mix together chopped walnuts, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until evenly coated.
Assemble the Star:
Place one sheet of puff pastry on the prepared baking sheet.
Spread the walnut-maple mixture evenly over it, leaving a small border around the edges.
Lay the second sheet of puff pastry on top and gently press to seal the edges.
Shape the Star:
Place a small glass or cup in the center of the pastry.
Cut the pastry into 16 equal strips radiating from the glass.
Twist each strip 2–3 times to form the star shape, then remove the glass.
Egg Wash & Bake:
Brush the entire pastry with the beaten egg for a glossy golden finish.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until puffed, crisp, and deeply golden brown.
Cool & Serve:
Let cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with a little extra maple syrup if desired and enjoy warm.
