Apple Cranberry Crisp

Ingredients

For the filling:

4 cups peeled and sliced apples (about 4–5 medium apples; Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work great)

1 ½ cups fresh or frozen cranberries

½ cup granulated sugar

2 tbsp brown sugar

1 tbsp lemon juice

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp nutmeg

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the crisp topping:

1 cup old-fashioned oats

¾ cup all-purpose flour

¾ cup brown sugar, packed

½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cubed

½ tsp cinnamon

Pinch of salt

For garnish:

Vanilla ice cream

A few fresh cranberries (or sugared cranberries for a festive touch)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven:
Set oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the filling:
In a large bowl, toss sliced apples and cranberries with both sugars, lemon juice, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.
Mix until everything is evenly coated.
    Pour into prepared baking dish.
  3. Make the topping:
In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Assemble and bake:
Evenly sprinkle the topping over the fruit mixture.
Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the fruit is bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
  5. Serve & garnish:
Let cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
Top warm crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and garnish with a few fresh or sugared cranberries.

Optional Tip:
For extra flavor, drizzle with a little maple syrup or caramel sauce just before serving.
