
Ingredients
For the filling:
4 cups peeled and sliced apples (about 4–5 medium apples; Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work great)
1 ½ cups fresh or frozen cranberries
½ cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla extract
For the crisp topping:
1 cup old-fashioned oats
¾ cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup brown sugar, packed
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
½ tsp cinnamon
Pinch of salt
For garnish:
Vanilla ice cream
A few fresh cranberries (or sugared cranberries for a festive touch)
Instructions
- Preheat oven:
Set oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish. - Prepare the filling:
In a large bowl, toss sliced apples and cranberries with both sugars, lemon juice, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla.
Mix until everything is evenly coated.
Pour into prepared baking dish. - Make the topping:
In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. - Assemble and bake:
Evenly sprinkle the topping over the fruit mixture.
Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the fruit is bubbly and the topping is golden brown. - Serve & garnish:
Let cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
Top warm crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and garnish with a few fresh or sugared cranberries.
Optional Tip:
For extra flavor, drizzle with a little maple syrup or caramel sauce just before serving.
