Ground Beef Casserole

Ingredients:
1 lb (450 g) ground beef
2 cups cooked pasta or rice
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup sour cream or cream cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs (for topping)
2 tablespoons melted butter

Preparation Method:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish lightly with oil or butter.

Cook the beef:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened. Stir in the garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Drain excess fat if needed.

Add seasoning and sauce:
Stir in the tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 5–7 minutes to blend the flavors.

Combine ingredients:
In a large bowl, mix the cooked pasta or rice with the beef mixture. Add sour cream or cream cheese if using, and stir well. Mix in half of the shredded cheese.

Assemble the casserole:
Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining cheese evenly on top.

Prepare the topping:
In a small bowl, combine breadcrumbs with melted butter. Sprinkle over the cheese layer for a golden, crispy finish.

Bake:
Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the top is golden brown.

Serve:
Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

This dish pairs perfectly with a simple green salad or garlic bread for a complete, comforting meal.
