Classic New Orleans–Style Muffuletta with Olive Salad and Layered Italian Meats

Ingredients:

1 large round sesame-seeded Italian loaf

4 oz turkey ham, sliced

4 oz beef salami, sliced

4 oz beef pepperoni, sliced

4 oz provolone cheese, sliced

4 oz mozzarella cheese, sliced

⅓ cup green olives, chopped

⅓ cup black olives, chopped

¼ cup roasted red peppers, chopped

2 tablespoons giardiniera, finely chopped

1 tablespoon capers

¼ cup olive oil

1 celery stalk, finely diced

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Directions:

1️⃣ Prepare the Bread: Slice the bread loaf horizontally. Hollow out a small amount of the interior to create space for the fillings.

2️⃣ Make the Olive Salad: In a bowl, combine the green olives, black olives, roasted red peppers, giardiniera, capers, celery, parsley, and olive oil. Stir until everything is well mixed.

3️⃣ Assemble the Muffuletta: Spread half of the olive salad evenly over the bottom half of the hollowed-out bread. Layer the turkey ham, beef salami, beef pepperoni, provolone cheese, and mozzarella cheese evenly on top.

4️⃣ Add the Second Layer: Spoon the remaining olive salad over the cheese and meat layers.

5️⃣ Finish the Sandwich: Place the top half of the bread on and gently press down to compact the sandwich.

6️⃣ Rest and Serve: Wrap the sandwich tightly and let it rest for 20–30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together before slicing and serving.
