
Ingredients
2 slices rustic white or sourdough bread
1 large ripe tomato, sliced thick
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Optional: a drizzle of olive oil or a few fresh basil leaves
Instructions
Lightly toast the bread until golden and crisp on the outside while still soft inside.
Spread mayonnaise evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
Layer the tomato slices generously on one slice.
Season the tomatoes with salt and black pepper.
Add olive oil or basil if using, then close the sandwich with the second slice, mayo side down.
Slice in half and serve immediately, fresh and simple, enjoy.
