Amish Winter Classic — Just 4

Ingredients
This cozy Amish Winter Classic is the kind of simple, old-fashioned comfort food that warms you from the inside out. Made with just four humble ingredients, it comes together effortlessly and delivers rich, satisfying flavor every single time. I make this dish every winter, and without fail, it’s the one everyone comes back for seconds (and thirds). Perfect for cold nights, family gatherings, or anytime you crave something hearty and comforting.

Ingredients (4):
1½ lbs potatoes, peeled and sliced
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup heavy cream (or whole milk)

Preparation Method:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Grease a baking dish lightly. Arrange half of the sliced potatoes evenly in the dish, then top with half of the onion slices.

Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the layers. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, onions, and cheese.

Pour the heavy cream evenly over the entire dish.

Cover with foil and bake for 45–50 minutes, until the potatoes are tender.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly.

Let rest for a few minutes before serving.

Serve it hot as a comforting side dish or a simple main—either way, it’s a timeless winter favorite that never disappoints.
