These Air Fryer Candied Orange Slices are a beautiful blend of sweet, citrusy, and lightly chewy goodness. Perfect as a snack, dessert garnish, or edible decoration, they’re easy to make and look absolutely stunning. Using the air fryer gives them a glossy, candy-like finish without the need for long oven drying times.
Ingredients
2 large oranges
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Preparation Method
Slice the Oranges
Wash the oranges well and slice them into thin rounds (about ¼ inch thick). Remove any seeds.
Make the Syrup
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar and water. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture comes to a gentle simmer.
Candy the Oranges
Add the orange slices to the syrup in a single layer. Simmer gently for 30–40 minutes, turning occasionally, until the slices become translucent.
Drain & Cool
Carefully remove the slices and place them on a wire rack or parchment paper to cool and slightly dry.
Air Fry
Preheat the air fryer to 160°C (320°F). Arrange the slices in a single layer in the basket.
Air fry for 10–15 minutes, flipping halfway, until slightly dry but still glossy.
Final Cool
Let the slices cool completely—they will firm up as they cool.
