Classic Butter Cookies


Ingredients

Unsalted Butter (soft) – ½ cup (113 g)

Powdered Sugar – ½ cup

Cornstarch – ½ cup

All-Purpose Flour – 2 cups

Egg – 1 large

Vanilla Extract – 1 tsp

Baking Powder – ¼ tsp

Salt – a pinch

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
    Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, cream butter and powdered sugar until light and smooth.
  3. Add egg and vanilla, mix well.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to butter mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
    (Do not over-mix.)
  6. Shape the dough as desired:

Sandwich balls

Ring cookies

  1. Place cookies on tray, leaving space between them.
  2. Bake for 12–15 minutes
    until bottoms are lightly golden (tops stay pale).
  3. Cool completely before serving or filling.

Optional Filling (for sandwich cookies)

Jam / Chocolate Spread / Cream – as needed

Storage

Store in an airtight container for 7–10 days.
