
Ingredients:
1 lb (450 g) fresh green beans, trimmed
2 tbsp (30 g) butter
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
½ cup (120 ml) milk
1 cup (120 g) mushrooms, sliced
½ tsp (2 g) thyme
Salt & black pepper, to taste
1 ½ cups (90 g) crispy fried onions, divided
½ cup (50 g) grated Parmesan
Directions
Prep Green Beans
Preheat oven to 375°F / 190°C.
Blanch green beans in boiling water for 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
Make Creamy Sauce
In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Sauté onions and garlic 3–4 minutes.
Add mushrooms, thyme, salt, and pepper; cook until mushrooms soften.
Stir in cream and milk; simmer until slightly thickened, about 3–5 minutes.
Assemble Casserole
Combine green beans and creamy mushroom sauce in a baking dish.
Top with half of the crispy fried onions and Parmesan.
Bake
Bake for 20 minutes until bubbly.
Sprinkle remaining crispy onions on top before serving.
Serve
Serve warm as a classic holiday side dish.
