Southern Style Baked Beans

Ingredients:

4 cups canned baked beans (or 2 cans, 28 oz each)

6–8 slices bacon, chopped

1 medium onion, finely chopped

½ cup brown sugar

¼ cup ketchup

¼ cup barbecue sauce

1 tbsp yellow mustard

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp smoked paprika (optional, for smokiness)

½ tsp garlic powder

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the bacon and onions

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

In a pan, cook the chopped bacon until lightly crispy.

Add the chopped onion and sauté until soft and fragrant.

Drain excess fat if needed.

  1. Mix the sauce

In a large bowl, combine:

brown sugar

ketchup

barbecue sauce

mustard

Worcestershire sauce

smoked paprika

garlic powder

salt & pepper

Stir well until smooth.

  1. Combine everything

Add the baked beans to the bowl.

Add the cooked bacon and onions.

Mix until fully combined.

  1. Bake

Transfer the mixture into a baking dish.

Bake for 45–60 minutes, or until thick, bubbly, and caramelized on top.

  1. Serve

Let it cool slightly and serve warm with grilled meats, burgers, hot dogs, or chicken.
