
Ingredients
1 tbsp avocado oil
1/2 onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 lb Italian sausage
1 lb ground beef
1 jar marinara (Rao’s recommended)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan
~30 slices pepperoni
1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
Salt & pepper, to taste
Directions
Heat avocado oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat.
Sauté the onions and bell pepper for about 5 minutes, or until softened and translucent.
Add the Italian sausage and ground beef. Cook, breaking it up as you go, until fully browned.
Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Drain excess grease from the skillet.
Stir in the marinara sauce and spread the mixture evenly.
Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over the top.
Layer pepperoni slices across the cheese.
Add olives if using.
Place the skillet under high broil just until the cheese is bubbly and browned.
Remove from oven, cool slightly, and serve.
Makes 8 hearty servings.
