With creamy chocolate pudding, rich whipped cream, and soft biscuits or cake pieces that become perfectly tender as they chill, every bite is smooth, velvety, and irresistible.
It’s the perfect dessert for parties, family gatherings, or when you want an impressive sweet treat without turning on the oven.
Ingredients
2 cups chocolate pudding (homemade or store-bought)
2 cups whipped cream (or Cool Whip)
1 cup chocolate ganache OR melted chocolate
1 ½ cups crushed chocolate cookies / tea biscuits / or cubed chocolate cake
½ cup chocolate chips or shaved chocolate (optional for garnish)
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Pinch of salt (optional — enhances chocolate flavor)
Directions
- Prepare the Layers
- If using chocolate pudding from scratch, allow it to cool completely before layering.
- Whip the cream (if not already whipped) until light and fluffy. Add vanilla extract if desired.
- Layer the Trifle
- In a large glass trifle bowl (or individual cups), start with a thin layer of chocolate pudding.
- Add a layer of crushed chocolate cookies or cubed cake.
- Spread a layer of whipped cream on top.
- Pour or drizzle chocolate ganache over the whipped cream.
- Repeat the Layers
Continue layering in the same order:
pudding → biscuits/cake → whipped cream → ganache
until the bowl is full or ingredients are used up.
Make sure the top layer is whipped cream or ganache for a smooth finish.
- Chill to Set
Cover the trifle and refrigerate for at least 4–6 hours, or ideally overnight.
During chilling, the cookies or cake soften into a tender, melt-in-the-mouth texture.
Serving
Before serving, sprinkle with chocolate chips, chocolate shavings, or cocoa powder if desired.
Scoop with a large spoon and serve cold.
