Philly Cheesesteak Baked Tacos: A Cozy & Delicious Dinner!
Hello dear friends! Today, we’re whipping up a truly delightful and easy dish that brings all the comforting flavors of a Philly Cheesesteak into a fun, baked taco shell. These are perfect for a weeknight meal and so simple to put together, making them a wonderful treat for us to enjoy!
Yields: 6-8 tacos
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 20-25 minutes
What You’ll Need:
1 pound thinly sliced steak (like sirloin or ribeye, ask your butcher to slice it thin for easy cooking!)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 8 ounce package of sliced mushrooms (optional, but yummy!)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 6-8 taco shells (hard or soft, your preference!)
- 1.5 cups shredded provolone cheese (or a blend of provolone and mozzarella)
Let’s Get Cooking!
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). This will get it nice and warm for our baking.
- Sauté the Veggies: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and bell pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften, about 5-7 minutes. If you’re using mushrooms, add them now and cook until they release their moisture and begin to brown.
- Cook the Steak: Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet. Add the thinly sliced steak to the empty side. Season the steak with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Cook, stirring frequently, until the steak is no longer pink. Don’t overcook it – we want it tender!
- Combine and Stir: Gently mix the steak and vegetables together in the skillet. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed.
- Assemble the Tacos: Arrange your taco shells on a baking sheet. Spoon the delicious steak and veggie mixture evenly into each taco shell.
- Cheesy Goodness: Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the top of the filling in each taco.
- Bake to Perfection: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the taco shells are heated through and slightly crispier.
Serve immediately and enjoy the wonderful flavors! These are so satisfying and comforting.
Optional Serving Suggestions:
You can serve these with a side of your favorite salad, a dollop of sour cream, or some extra sautéed onions if you like!
