I saw a recipe that swapped potatoes for cabbage and decided to run with the idea—this dish doesn’t have an official name, but it turned out pretty dang good!
Ingredients
5 sweet Italian sausages, casings removed and cut into ½-inch chunks
1 small head green cabbage, roughly chopped
1 block cream cheese
1 cup heavy whipping cream (HWC)
Salt
Garlic powder
Onion flakes
Paprika
Cracked black pepper
Directions
Cook the sausage:
Brown the sausage chunks over medium heat until cooked through. Remove from the pan, but leave the oil and browned bits behind.
Cook the cabbage:
Add the chopped cabbage to the pan. Salt generously, season to taste, toss well, cover, and cook until the cabbage softens to your liking.
Melt the cream cheese:
Break the cream cheese block into pieces with your hands and place the chunks over the cabbage. Cover and let it melt for a few minutes.
Combine:
Stir until the cabbage is evenly coated in the melted cream cheese.
Add cream & sausage:
Pour in the heavy whipping cream and return the cooked sausage to the pan. Mix well.
Simmer:
Cover and let everything cook together for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve:
Spoon into a bowl and enjoy this creamy, comforting skillet meal!
