
Ingredients
- Thinly sliced steak (ribeye or sirloin), 350–400 g
- Onion, 1 large, thinly sliced
- Olive oil, 2 tbsp
- Butter, 1 tbsp
- Salt, 1 tsp
- Black pepper, 1/2 tsp
- Garlic powder, 1/2 tsp
- Provolone or mozzarella cheese, 4–6 slices
- Soft sub rolls, 2
- Optional: chopped parsley, 1 tbsp
Instructions
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil and the butter in a pan over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook 10–12 minutes until golden and soft. Remove and set aside.
- Add remaining olive oil to the pan. Increase heat to medium-high.
- Season steak with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook steak 2–3 minutes, stirring, until browned and just cooked.
- Add onions back into the pan. Top with cheese slices and let them melt over the meat.
- Lightly toast sub rolls if desired.
- Pile the cheesy steak and onions into the rolls and serve warm.
