Ingredients
For the Tart Crust
1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
¼ cup sugar
1 egg yolk
1–2 tbsp cold water
Pinch of salt
For the Almond Filling (Frangipane)
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup sugar
1 cup almond flour (finely ground almonds)
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
¼ tsp almond extract (optional)
For the Apple Topping
2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp sugar
½ tsp cinnamon

Instructions
Step 1 — Make the Tart Crust
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add cold butter and rub with fingertips until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
- Add egg yolk and 1 tbsp cold water; mix until dough begins to come together.
- Form a ball, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Roll out dough and place into a tart pan. Trim edges and poke bottom with a fork.
- Pre-bake at 175°C / 350°F for 10 minutes.
Step 2 — Prepare the Almond Filling
- In a bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until creamy.
- Add eggs, vanilla, and almond extract; mix well.
- Fold in almond flour until smooth.
- Spread the almond filling evenly into the pre-baked crust.
Step 3 — Add the Apple Topping
- Toss the apple slices with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon.
- Arrange them in a circular pattern on top of the almond filling.
Step 4 — Bake
Bake the tart at 175°C / 350°F for 35–40 minutes, or until the filling is golden and set.
Step 5 — Finish
Let it cool completely, then dust with powdered sugar and garnish with sliced almonds if desired.
