Classic Stuffed Cabbage Rolls


Tender cabbage leaves filled with a savory beef and rice mixture, baked in a rich tomato sauce — the ultimate cozy comfort food!

Ingredients

1 head of cabbage

1 lb ground beef

1 onion, finely chopped

1 cup cooked rice

2 tbsp tomato paste

1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

1 cup beef broth

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 tsp garlic powder

Salt & pepper to taste

2 tbsp chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cabbage:

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Core the cabbage and gently peel off the leaves.

Blanch each leaf in hot water for about 2 minutes, until softened.

Drain and let cool on a towel.

  1. Make the Filling:

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until browned.

Drain any excess fat.

Stir in cooked rice, tomato paste, garlic powder, and soy sauce.

Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well and remove from heat.

  1. Assemble the Rolls:

Lay one cabbage leaf flat, spoon 2–3 tablespoons of the beef mixture into the center, and roll it up tightly, tucking in the sides.

Place each roll seam side down in a baking dish. Repeat until all the filling is used.

  1. Make the Sauce:

In a small bowl, whisk together the tomato sauce and beef broth .

Pour evenly over the cabbage rolls, ensuring they’re fully covered.

  1. Bake:

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour, until the cabbage is tender and the sauce thickens.

  1. Serve:

Garnish with chopped green onions for a burst of freshness.
